Use this document to configure chart drill-down so that dashboard viewers can move from summary data to more detailed data.
What Drill-Down Does
Drill-down changes the level of detail shown in a chart. You can start from a high-level dimension and then click a data point to view the next level.
For example, a chart can drill down in the following order:
Region > Primary Channel > Secondary Channel > Tertiary Channel
When viewers click a region, the chart shows data for the primary channels in that region. They can then continue drilling into secondary and tertiary channels.
Before You Start
- You have created the charts for each drill-down level.
- Each chart uses the dimension that corresponds to its level.
- You have created or can edit the dashboard where the drill-down should be configured.

Tips

- Keep the drill-down path consistent with the business hierarchy.
- Use dimensions that naturally move from broad to detailed.
- Avoid adding too many levels if the dashboard is used for quick monitoring.
